About us

Welcome to our think tank website, dedicated to critical thinking, human rights advocacy, and raising awareness about the issues of compulsory military service in Estonia. We aim to inspire open discussions and deconstruct the slave mindset—the habit of following indiscriminately and without thinking simply because that is how things have been for a while.

Although Slave Mind focuses on Estonian practices, its in-depth analyses and ideas have also been recognized in other countries. As a result, the website is now available in six languages, and a mobile app is accessible for Android and iOS devices.

We operate on a voluntary basis—exactly as the Estonian Defence Forces should operate. We do not seek income from our project, but we thank you for your donations because keeping the portal running and developing is not cheap. We care too much about Estonia to let it deteriorate and fall to the level of the Soviet Union in terms of coercive practices. We believe that the future of Estonia must be based on freedom and equality.

Compulsory military service originates from a distant past and does not fit into modern society. We stand against the slave mind mentality and believe that every individual should have the right to decide their own life without state interference in their conscience, bodily autonomy, or personal choices.

Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and experiences on our website. Get in touch if you want to participate, share your story, or recognize the work done. You also have the opportunity to to support the initiative financially.

To conclude, here are some thought-provoking quotes:

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.”

Albert Einstein

“He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder”

Albert Einstein, physicist and the greatest scientist of the 20th century

“The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”

Friedrich Nietzsche, philosopher and founder of the super-human theory

Henry David Thoreau

“Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.”

Henry David Thoreau, philosopher and pioneer of civil disobedience

“Fear is the kind of thing that often chains people into slavery. It’s not that the chains are put on them, but that they don’t want to be free, fearing things more than there is reason to fear them.”
